4 Enterprise Focus Areas to Review as You Prep for 2025

As 2024 comes to a close, it’s crucial for network administrators using PDI Enterprise to start planning for the upcoming year. This period is an excellent opportunity to ensure that all systems are running as efficiently as possible.

Here are four key areas to focus on as you approach the new year.

1. Upgrade software

One of the most critical year-end tasks is upgrading your software to support 1099 production. This upgrade is essential to ensure compliance with tax regulations and to facilitate the smooth processing of 1099 forms. PDI Enterprise versions with all necessary updates are available mid-December. By scheduling updates ahead of time, you’ll ensure readiness for processing in January.

2. Clean up company databases and test systems

The year end is also the perfect time to perform a thorough cleanup of your company databases and test systems. Over time, databases can become cluttered with outdated or redundant data, which can slow down system performance. Additionally, multiple test companies that are no longer needed can affect performance and upgrades. Conducting a cleanup will improve efficiency and help ensure that your systems are running optimally. This process should include archiving old data, deleting unnecessary files and test companies, and optimizing database performance.

3. Review resource usage and verify backups

Another important aspect of year-end planning is reviewing resource usage. This review will help identify areas where resource usage may be causing cost increases due to over-utilization. By analyzing usage patterns, you can make informed decisions about resource allocation and identify opportunities for cost savings. This review should assess server usage, storage capacity, and network bandwidth. PDI provides a dashboard for hosted customers to help you track your resource usage. If your servers are maintained on premise, this is also a great time to verify that your backups are being made consistently and can be restored successfully.

4. Advise the accounting and pricebook teams

Lastly, it’s critical to remind your accounting and pricebook teams to review their respective areas. The accounting team should ensure that all financial records are complete, and that they’ve tested the software updates necessary for year-end processing. The pricebook team should review and clean up outdated items and pricebook information as needed. This collaboration will help ensure that all aspects of the business are aligned and ready for the new year.

By focusing on these key areas, network administrators and technology specialists can help ensure a smooth transition into the new year and set the stage for continued success. Check out our upcoming training classes that feature our year-end planning and processing updates. Happy planning!
