PDI Users Conference Draws Record-Breaking Crowd for Second Straight Year

Convenience retailers and petroleum wholesalers come from across North America for the software company’s four-day training and networking event.

ATLANTA, GEORGIA – September 19, 2019 — PDI, a leading global provider of enterprise software solutions to the convenience retail, wholesale petroleum, and logistics industries, held its 2019 North America users conference, Sept. 8-11, at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville. Nearly 1,100 people attended the annual event, making it the largest in the conference’s history.

“It’s always great to see new and familiar faces at our conference every year. Whether through engaging classes packed with eager customers or lively conversations at the partner showcase, the energy was palpable,” said Jimmy Frangis, CEO at PDI. “This year’s theme was Better Together, and it reflects our commitment to serve our customers across the value chain better. We’re bringing together the right solutions, training, expertise and partners to help optimize their operations, grow revenue and provide actionable insights.”

Over the last three years, PDI has grown considerably by hiring in key areas and acquiring 15 companies, both of which helped significantly expand its capabilities in several areas. The software company is aligned around four lines of business—ERP, Marketing Cloud, Fuel Pricing, and Logistics. This year’s agenda featured sessions to help customers learn more about PDI’s solutions in these areas. The event offered attendees more than 110 classes ranging from beginner to advanced and covered every aspect of PDI’s broad solutions portfolio. Throughout the event, customers heard from the PDI leadership team about trends impacting the industry and from two dynamic keynote speakers: Rohit Talwar, a renowned global futurist, and Devon Harris, captain of the Jamaican bobsled team for the 1988 Winter Olympics. Harris’ story inspired the movie “Cool Runnings.”

“I’ve been coming to this conference for years–the classes are informative, and I always learn something new,” said Nick Baumgartner, controller for National Oil & Gas, Inc. “What I appreciate even more is PDI’s commitment to building relationships, and you feel that when you interact with the team members at this event.”

First-time attendee, Steve Buerk, a pricebook coordinator for Wallis Companies, said, “This is a great place to exchange information with other attendees.” Buerk continued, “My day-to-day processes are going to be 1,000 times easier with everything I’m learning.”

The conference also boasted its largest-ever number of technology partners. The two-night partner showcase with extended hours was especially popular, allowing customers to learn about new services and interact with the latest technology well into the evening.

At the conference, PDI announced it had reached its fundraising goal for Folds of Honor. The charity provides educational scholarships to the spouses and children of fallen and disabled U.S. service members. With help from employees, customers and partners, PDI was able to fund 35 scholarships. Ginger Gilbert Ravella, mother of five Folds of Honor scholarship recipients, was there to share her incredible story and accept the donation on behalf of the organization.

PDI looks forward to hosting its 2020 conference, Aug. 23-26 at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in Washington D.C.
